Best Species to Target: Get Hooked!
Largemouth Bass
Fish for Largemouth Bass this week in 5-12 feet of water over a rocky bottom using a spinnerbait or worm. A slow retrieve with erratic action should encourage a strike at mid-depth.
Channel Catfish
Target Channel Catfish in 10-20 feet of water over a muddy bottom using cut bait or stink bait. A slow retrieve with a subtle action will entice a bite near the bottom.
Bluegill
Find Bluegill in shallow waters (2-5 feet) over a weedy base using small jigs or live worms. A quick, steady retrieve with a bouncing action should draw them in.
Best Times to be on the Water: Timing is Everything!
Largemouth Bass
Due to improving weather and clearing water, Largemouth Bass will be actively feeding during the early afternoon. 12 PM – 2 PM will be optimal for targeting this species.
Channel Catfish
With water temperatures rising, Channel Catfish will mainly be sheltering on the bottom. Late evening, from 6 PM to dark, will be the best time to target them.
Bluegill
In warmer conditions, Bluegill will be actively feeding in the shallows in the morning. Early morning, around 7 AM – 9 AM, will be the best time to catch them.
