Top Catches: Species to Target This Week
Largemouth Bass
Fish for largemouth bass this week in 5-10 feet of water over a rocky bottom using a spinnerbait. A slow retrieve with a steady action should encourage a strike at 5-10 feet.
Striped Bass
Target striped bass in deeper waters (10-15 feet) over submerged structure using live bait. A fast retrieve with erratic action will work best during the active feeding times.
Black Crappie
Fish for black crappie this week in 3-6 feet of water over submerged brush using a jig. A slow and steady retrieve with a subtle action should entice bites.
Bluegill
Target bluegill in shallow waters (2-4 feet) near vegetation using small worms. A gentle retrieve with a twitching action will attract their attention.
Prime Fishing Times: When to Hit the Water
Largemouth Bass
Due to improving weather and stable water conditions, largemouth bass will be actively feeding in the late afternoon. 4 PM – 6 PM will be the optimal time to target this species.
Striped Bass
With warmer water temperatures, striped bass will be feeding heavily during early morning hours. 6 AM – 8 AM will be the best time to catch them.
Black Crappie
Given the clear water conditions, black crappie will be feeding in the early evening. 5 PM – 7 PM is the prime time for this species.
Bluegill
As bluegill are in shallow waters, they will be most active during midday. 12 PM – 2 PM is the ideal time to catch these fish.
